Let's finish those Immigration projects from the Webquest.

It lasted two weeks.

It was uncomfortable and crowded. He went up on deck all the time, just to have room to move around.

Because Seymour was sick.

He had no toys with me. He didn't know of such things. But there were other sick boys to keep me company. Some of them spoke Yiddish, His language. He ate in a huge dining room. The food was different.

TIMELINE
•1840-1920: The approximately 37 million immigrants, the greatest influx ever, entered the U.S.

• 1882: The Chinese Exclusion Act was passed, not allowing the Chinese immigrants to enter the U.S.

•1891: The INS (Immigrants and Naturalization Service) is created.

•1892: The INS opens an immigrant screening station.

•1917: The Immigration Act is passed making it harder for immigrants to enter the U.S.

•1918: The Anarchist Act is passed, which expands the provisions for the exclusion of subversive immigrants.

•1921: A quota system is established providing information on how many immigrants enter the U.S.

1) Seymour had a very awesome talent that helped him get his parents to America during hard times, which was that Seymour had the ability to sing very well.
2) Seymour decided to come to America because his parents told him that it was better to be in America with that great talent he had.
3) Seymour was 8yrs. Old when he had left Poland.
4) It lasted 2-weeks
5) He was set in a small crowded room with others in the lower part of the ship, he also got sick and it was raining hard.
6) Approximately 5,000-7,000 immigrants were processed.
7) They were separated because they didn’t want to let sick people go into the U.S. so Seymour had to wait until he was not sick anymore.
8) It was full of sick people and there was a gate with a boat that took people away from the island. It was like being in jail.
9) Seymour started singing and earning money as soon as he came to the U.S.
10) Seymour and his dad faced problems such as not being able to bring their family into the U.S. because the people in charge of allowing immigrants in weren’t letting many immigrants in, in 1924.
11) Seymour performed for leaders at the U.S. capitol and then he was asked to perform for the president, Calvin Coolidge at the White House.
12) The president helped Seymour and his dad by allowing the rest of his family into the U.S.

1-.Seymour Rechtzeit knew how to sing well and sang in big events all over Poland.
2-.He moved to America because his parents believed that he would have more opportunities and more advantages to use his talent in the U.S.
3-.Seymour Rechtzeit was eight years old.
4-.The journey lasted for about two-weeks.
5-.The ship was crowded where they slept and they had to go through several rain storms Seymour caught a cold.
6-.There was long lines of Immigrants being processed by officials.
7-.Seymour and his father were separated because Seymour had a cold and had to be examined.
8-.The Island was full of other immigrant kids who were sick as well; they had American style food and a diversity of immigrants.
